(Almost) Time To Say Goodbye – And Hello

Summer is certainly still in full swing, but the soaps of summer are nearing an end. Here’s the list of short-timers, which will be vanishing in the next six weeks if not before:

It is possible that some of these will remain available on Amazon after they are gone from Etsy, but there’s no guarantee – if they sell out first, they’re gone, unless and until their number comes up again on the ever-changing rotation of Limited Editions.

The Game of Soaps are also starting to run a bit low, and once those are gone, they’re gone! There will likely be another Game of Soaps set next year, but it will be new and different, not the same ones. So don’t miss out!

But don’t despair – there will be plenty of new Limited Editions showing up to fill the void left behind by these. In fact, the first of these – Oil and Gold – made its 2014 debut last week, and expect a new appearance every week from now into the fall – and happy sudsing!

Fall 2013 Limited Editions

The new soaps just keep on coming!

Chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemum

The description: A spicy, dry, slightly fruity floral, Chrysanthemum is a very fresh, clean fragrance and perfectly suited to fall!

I have always loved chrysanthemums, as long as I can remember. I think they are a very underrated flower, with lots of character and a delightful scent. So I’m happy to be able to bring this to this year’s fall lineup!

Available here and here in soap, and here in other products.

Oak Leaves & Acorns

Oak Leaves & Acorns

Oak Leaves & Acorns

The description: Fall leaves and late summer flowers, with an undercurrent of evergreen. A symphony of autumnal delight!

This is one of the most-loved fall scents in the whole line, but I seem to have the most incredible amount of trouble getting it to behave itself properly and turn into soap! It’s really not the fragrance’s fault; it actually soaps like a dream. But I have a truly disproportionate number of mishaps when soaping this fragrance! Still, I’m quite pleased with how it turned out this time. (We won’t talk about how many tries it took to get here, hm?)

Available here and here in soap, with other products available here.

Next week the last eight of the fall and miscellaneous Limited Editions will be released at once, and then winter fragrances will be released either at the end of October or beginning of November.  Happy sudsing!

Fall 2013 Limited Editions, Week Seven

A spicy, woodsy pair this week!

Spice Market

Spice Market

Spice Market

The description:

Spice Market is a fall classic around here, and it tends to sell out early – this year I made extra, but that’s no guarantee it’ll last long! Available here and here in soap, and here in other products.

Mabon Moon

Mabon Moon

Mabon Moon

The description: An array of warm woodsy scents with just a hint of patchouli, underlain by musk and sweet spices, with citrus, lavender, eucalyptus, and just a hint of heady florals on the top. Very autumnal and deeply intriguing!

After creating this soap, I threw open the field for name ideas. I got dozens of fantastic suggestions, and the above was the winner! It was suggested by LuAnn Dyson on Facebook in this post. Thanks again to everyone who came up with such awesome ideas! Available here and here in soap, with other products available here.

Next week we’re saying goodbye to Gardens by Moonlight and Peach Pie soaps, and hello to two new ones!

Fall 2013 Limited Editions, Week Six

What is fall without delicious harvest-themed food? A lot less fun, that’s what.

Apple Orchard

Apple Orchard

Apple Orchard

The description: Fresh and crisp, like a walk through an heirloom orchard on an autumn afternoon.

This apple smells so realistic you can almost hear the crunch of a bite. Here as we head into apple harvest and cider season, I have been surrounding myself with this scent, and absolutely LOVE it.

Available here and here in soap, with other products available here.

Gingerbread

Gingerbread

Gingerbread

The description: The Gingerbread Man may be too fast to catch, but this scent is right here waiting to be caught! In addition to ginger and cinnamon, there are hints of caraway and even just a smidge of black pepper for an additional pop, and a subtle undercurrent of sweet, rich vanilla.

Like so many of the fall scents, Gingerbread smells good enough to eat, wrapping you in the delicious aromas of sugar and spice.

Available here and here in soap, with other products available here.

Next week we bid farewell to Pomegranate Mint and Summer Fling, and bring in two more new scents!

Fall 2013 Limited Editions, Week Five

More old friends with new looks!

Wild Mint & Ivy

Wild Mint & Ivy

Wild Mint & Ivy

The description: Incredibly complex, this fragrance has many mint varieties, citrus, patchouli, wood, and lavender.

This scent is cool and sharp, woodsy and light. It’s a perfect foil to the musky and dark or spicy and sweet scents of autumn, but no less fall-like for all that. A beautiful blend!

Available here and here in soap, with other products available here.

Black Amber & Lavender

Black Amber & Lavender

Black Amber & Lavender

The description: Dark and deep, the mysterious aroma of amber resin blends gorgeously with the sharp notes of lavender flowers. Under these primary scents lies a rich vanilla, a hint of musk, and a bit of herbal tang.

This scent has some incredibly devoted (I won’t go so far as to say “rabid”) fans, who will be happy to see it back again this fall! It is a spicy, herbal, sweet fragrance reminiscent of classic aftershaves or ancient perfumes.

Available here and here in soap, and here in other products.

Disappearing next week: Lilacs in Bloom and Rose Garden. Get ’em while they’re here!

Fall 2013 Limited Editions, Week Four

And what does this week have in store? A pair of old  favorites with new looks!

Almond

Almond

Almond

The description: Reminiscent of fresh-baked almond spritz cookies, this fragrance will lift your spirits and put you in mind of holiday baking! Homey and delicious.

I love almonds and almond-flavored things, and so it was a source of sadness for me that for pretty much the entirety of my 20s, I was allergic to them. Then, suddenly and as mysteriously as it appeared, the allergy vanished! But while it lingered, almond-scented things like this were great to have around to help assuage the cravings! Even now, though, I love a good, rich almond fragrance. It’s a fantastic addition to the fall/winter line, reminding us as it does so strongly of baked goods and tastiness.

Available here in soap, and here in other product lines.

Spellbound Woods

Spellbound Woods

Spellbound Woods

The description: These woods are lovely, dark and deep indeed! Amber, musk, vanilla, sandalwood, cedarwood, with just enough light notes to keep it from being too bottom-heavy a fragrance; this blend is absolutely incredible.

Imagine the richest, sweetest, most luscious vanilla you have ever smelled. Add in a hint of musk and an array of woodsy scents, sprinkle a hint of tantalizingly just-out-of-identifiable-range lighter notes across the top (citrus? Maybe . . . ), and you might have some idea of what this smells like. It is sensuous and spectacular, and not to be missed for anyone who enjoys the darker end of the scent profile range.

Available here in soap, with other product lines available here.

And what are we preparing to bid farewell to next Wdenesday? Melon Spritzer and Sunflowers. Get ’em while they’re here!

Fall 2013 Limited Editions, Week Three

Another week, another pair of new soaps!

Good Clean Dirt

Good Clean Dirt

Good Clean Dirt

The description: Damp clay, piles of fallen leaves, fresh-turned soil: Comforting, earthy fragrances which make us feel closer to nature. A very subtle scent. Great for hunters, gardeners, nature-lovers, and kids who won’t take a bath because they’d rather smell like dirt!

I have a long and not entirely uncheckered history with this soap. I have loved it since I first smelled it; one of my earliest memories is playing in my father’s pottery studio, and the earthy, dusty scent of this soap takes me right back there, sitting in the clay dust rolling out snakes from scraps at the age of three or four. So I really, really wanted to do it justice and make a good product from it. But it, alas, did not want to cooperate, and so I produced batch after batch of, well, ugly soap. I believe now, after years of trying off and on, I have finally made a bar of soap in this scent which looks like I wanted it to! I hope you all enjoy the scent as much as I do.

Available here and here.

Red Currant and Thyme

Red Currant & Thyme

Red Currant & Thyme

The description: A complex and utterly delicious blend of fruit and herbal notes, compelling and delightful.

The very first time I opened a bottle of this fragrance I was awestruck. I sat there sniffing the bottle for what seemed like an hour but was probably only two or three minutes, with a look on my face that led my husband to refer to it as “Amynip”. Soaps made from this scent sold like crazy, too, so it wasn’t just me who felt that way about it. And then one day, I went to re-order, and it WASN’T THERE. I was horrified. I immediately went into hoard-mode with the bit of the fragrance that I still had in stock, and have spent quite some time dithering over what to do with it. Well, here it is! A peacock swirl in gorgeous red and gold, as stunning in appearance as it is in aroma. Enjoy! SunSoap only, available while supplies last.

(Yes, I know there are other suppliers who offer a Red Currant and Thyme scent, and one of these days I’ll work up the courage to court disappointment and order one to sniff. I’ve even got my eye on a specific one, in fact, when I’m ready to give it a whirl. Maybe it’ll be every bit as awesome as the one I can’t get anymore, and then we can all rejoice!)

Available here and here.

This week’s short-timer: Green Garden. Spearmint Lavender would have been there, too, but it’s sold out already!
